Day 3: Driving in Treacherous Condtitions

Well, we had a terrific time at Mall of America, but alas, we must move on....  Rapid City, South Dakota was next on our agenda.

It started out with a bit of rain...but temperature was floating around 29-32... Right at freezing; for quite some time, roads were not that bad, just slick and wet.
We stopped at LOTS of gas stations... LOL

OK, so now the snow and sleet begin to stick and the winds are constantly blowing at 15-20 MPH with 30 - 40 MPH gusts.... John said that he was having to hold the steering wheel toward the right for several hours --- very stressful driving for most of the day...
Off in the distance, there is a metal sculpture of an antelope...
Ummmmmm, about now, I'm singing all the verses of "Amazing Grace"!!!!  TOTALLY freaked out.... WHITE knuckles holding steering wheel and terrified of sliding off the road.
Then, we came upon this scene...

 and this one....
FINALLY, it began to clear up some...

It just seemed a little ironic that South Dakota farmers are already hard at it...

Views continue to amaze me... God created some wonderful places... I feel so honored and humbled that He is allowing me to see some of them. :)
